Take Me Back: Amorita Resort Bohol

It is the time of the year when my social media pages are flooded with beach and summer getaway photos. Yes, I’m jealous! I wish I can go on vacation now and enjoy the summer in the Philippines together with my folks. In this side of the world where I’m at, spring has just began. Probably another month or two I’ll be able to pack my bags and go home for vacation. Unfortunately, it would be rainy in the Philippines by that time. (Oh sad!)

For now I’ll just reminisce our amazing stay at Amorita Resort. To give a background, Amorita is a family run luxury boutique resort. Perched on a limestone cliff at the southern edge of Panglao Island in Bohol, it showcase stunning views which is somewhat irresistible to ignore.

Recently, Amorita Resort has added a new wing and renovated the old buildings to match the modern luxurious feel of a new Amorita. Perhaps some of my photos below are no longer visible in the new Amorita. For now let me take you back of how this gorgeous resort used to be.

Three years ago my husband (Derick) and I spent our 6th wedding anniversary honeymoon here. The amount of satisfaction and great experience we felt made Amorita one of my top five favorite resorts in the Philippines. Without further ado… here’s why!

Amazing Views

DSC_0556This view. I wouldn’t get tired of.  Overlooking the long stretch of Alona beach highlighted with turquoise waters of Bohol Sea and accentuated by the blue skies and tropical green trees. Who wouldn’t love it? It’s priceless!

newDouble the fun! Enjoying the pool and admiring the amazing view. Can’t get any better than this!

Comfortable and Clean Room

DSC_0506I love the dainty containers and toiletries neatly presented.

DSC_0515Our room was very clean, spacious and equipped with basic amenities. It has two double beds which can accommodate four adults staying in one room. A good sized balcony with a garden view gives a tranquil vibe and at the same time connect to nature even if you’re just inside the room.

Superb Service

When it comes to service Amorita is definitely exceptional. From sending queries through emails and booking reservations, they were very prompt in answering each email I sent. Upon our arrival at the Tagbilaran Port, we were assisted right away to our Van transfer to Amorita. Cold face towels were handed to freshen up and chilled bottled water were ready if in case we get thirsty. When we arrived at the resort another round of refreshing drinks were served to us. Without a fuss we got our room right away.

On our first morning at the resort we were very surprised to be greeted by their staff on a first name basis like “Good morning Sir Derick and Ma’am Joy!” These people know how to make their guests comfortable and make them feel at home.

Within the period of our stay we received three different personalized notes… first was a Welcome note, second was an Anniversary greeting note and the last one was a Thank you note. Every note came with delightful treats. Isn’t that sweet?

DSC_0623Our anniversary cake was very pretty and equally delicious too. Mango cake in a chocolate basket. Yum!

DSC_0763And the surprise continues, while we were out to check the Bohol Bee Farm, their room service staff meticulously arranged these petals one by one on our bed to form HAPPY ANNIVERSARY… and it didn’t end there. Their other staff prepared a romantic set up at the edge of the cliff overlooking the sea. With stunning sunset view as backdrop we had our romantic dinner.

Great Food

Speaking of food, Saffron restaurant will seriously spoil you to the brim. The restaurant serves local Boholano specialties that are a must-try. Each dish in their menu are delicately prepared using fresh ingredients that are locally produced.

When we were there, the restaurant prepared tea time assorted finger food for snacks. There were selections of sweet and savory. Because of my amazement and excitement, I forgot to take pictures and immediately stuffed the food into my mouth.  Hahaha.

DSC_0754These complimentary snacks were delivered to our room because I was so lazy to go out. How thoughtful! Sorry I can’t remember what’s the name of this dish. It was like a mini chicken pot pie.

DSC_0742This Barbecue Chicken Pizza was huge and delicious. I only finished two slices of it and I was full.

20130714_184628_LLSOn our romantic dinner night, the chef prepared a surprise three course meal for us. Prior to our dinner the kitchen staff only asked us what kind of protein we want and if we have certain allergies to a particular ingredient.

Fresh garden salad with mangoes and water melon tossed in organic honey dressing topped with local white cheese were served for our starter. (Sorry no available blog-worthy photo for the salad).

DSC_0759For my main this is what I got, slices of perfectly cooked grilled steak with creamy mashed potato and mixed veggies.

DSC_0761My husband ordered a fish dish and this is what he got, catch of the day fish wrapped with bacon with mashed potato, veggies and butter sauce. Again I apologized I can no longer remember the name of this fantastic dish. Any way it was a perfectly cooked delicious dish.

DSC_0762For our dessert we got warm Mango Pudding topped with Vanilla Ice Cream. The melted vanilla ice cream made the combination heavenly.

Fun Activities

There are so many things to do in Amorita, from kayaking and scuba diving to volleyball and paddle boarding. Even the little ones has a place to enjoy at the children’s playground. Amorita has its own in-house dive center, managed by PADI-certified Sea Explorers Philippines. As for me, since I’m not into water activities I enjoyed basking under the sun and relaxing while admiring the breathtaking views.

There are only few hotels and resorts who are willing to go the extra mile to make their guests extremely happy. And Amorita is one of those who delivers every little detail with passion and love to provide their guests a worthwhile stay and experience that will forever be remembered. Thank you Amorita for the amazing experience! One day we will be back.
