To begin with, my husband and I spent our 8th wedding anniversary at Movenpick Hotel Mactan. Stayed there for three days, so basically we had most of our meals at The Sails restaurant. From breakfast to dinner.

The restaurant has a lovely contemporary interiors which was very beautiful and cozy. The buffet tables were all organized and properly labelled. Upon entering the restaurant the receptionist immediately assisted us to our table making sure we were comfortable.

*The breakfast buffet spread was excellent enough for me, although it wasn’t the biggest and grandest I’ve seen. It has almost everything you need for breakfast from freshly baked bread, fruits and salad selection  to gluten free items. Kids has healthy power bites corner which has cute cupcakes, donuts and kiddie meals. The hot meals were good and has a lot of choices. They don’t have a repeat dishes. Rest assured that your next day breakfast is different. You can order your own omelette concoction and they’ll happily cooked it for you. They also have Noodles Station which you can make your own noodle soup as you like. Korean corner was also present.  My personal breakfast pick was the Puto with Mango slices and Sikwate (local hot chocolate made with tablea) and the Chorizo de Cebu is a must try.

*The lunch buffet has only the basics like Salad bar, Dessert corner, Fresh fruits and hot main dishes plus freshly baked pizzas. There were two live cooking stations one for grilling and one for rice meals wherein you can pick fresh ingredients and let them cook it for you with your choice of sauce. My favorites were the Salmon with fresh orange salad and Beef roulade. The beef were perfectly cooked and very tasty.

*The dinner buffet – We experienced their Italian Dinner Buffet during our stay. Just like their breakfast and lunch buffet they have a good selection of food from salads to desserts. The dinner buffet spread has Antipasti station that consist cured meats, cheese, olives, mushrooms and etc. The pizza station has a choices of three freshly baked pizzas. Of course your Italian experience won’t be complete without having pasta. They have a live cooking station for pasta wherein you can pick a pasta of your choice, proteins, veggies and sauce. I love my Fettuccine Alfredo with prosciutto, guanciale and broccoli it was perfectly cooked (aldente, well-seasoned and yummy). Aside from my delicious pasta, I also enjoyed the Smoked Pork with mushroom sauce paired with herb potatoes. It is a must try!

Overall, my 5* rating was based on the three buffet experience we had. The restaurant staff were all commendable. Excellent service. You don’t have to call them if you need something. They’re the ones who asked you if you need something. Offering their service is their pleasure. And we loved it so much. Dining here was all worth it. My whole family was very happy to experience the Movenpick hospitality. Would definitely dine here again.
