Yanbu did it again. Just like in 2014, they were honored by the Guinness World Records of having the ‘Largest Carpet of Flowers’ in this year’s Yanbu Flowers and Gardens Festival. This record was previously held by Mexico.
The prestigious award was announced during the commencement program of the festival last March 14, 2017 and was awarded to the committee who organized the event. .
The largest carpet of flowers/plants is 16,134.0 m² (173,665 ft² 115 in²), and was created by Yanbu Flower Festival (Saudi Arabia), in Yanbu, Saudi Arabia, on 14 March 2017.
The carpet of flowers comprises some 1.8 million flowers of 14 different types. The Yanbu Flower Festival is hosted by the Royal Commission of Yanbu. –
The theme of this year’s festival is the Saudi 2030 vision. These words can actually be seen right at the middle of the flower carpet when viewed at a higher altitude. Unfortunately, I don’t have any means to capture the whole area of the carpet.
To those of you who haven’t visited the festival yet, the event will run through from March 14 to April 8, 2017. The park is open from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Below are some photos of the flower festival and things you should expect during your visit. Have a glimpse of our version of this year’s spring in the desert.
Nice.pictures… it made those flowers look more beautiful than what it actually is… 😁

Hi Jia, last day is 8th of April. According to the Festival’s schedule written at the entrance. However, I’m not sure if they have extended it.

Wow, imagine the effort in putting this together. And no less in a desert!
It did not look very crowded though.

Hello Mel, yes it is actually a whole year preparation, from the design down to every little details of the festival. It is really amazing to see different flowers thriving in the dessert.
It’s not advisable to take photos with many people in this place, so we made sure to beat the crowd and took photos before the place will be filled with visitors.

Ah good point. Yes the crowds would “photobomb” the pictures!
Wow. One full year to prepare. But that will surely take a lot of water to maintain!

Looks gorgeous! Its too bad that there isn’t a facility to climb any tall building there to have a look at it with all its glory! Reminds me of Brussels Flower Carpet. That has a balcony access ticket issued to the buildings around it!

You are right on that. It would be nice if there was a tall structure somewhere where we could take a better picture of the carpet. But this place is so open and no such structure exist as of now. You’ll be needing a drone with a camera installed in it to be able to take that picture. You have to get permission from the organizers to be able to do that though. Thanks for dropping by… 🙂
