Yas Island Rotana is one of the many properties of Rotana Hotel Management Corporation, a well known hotel brand in the Middle East. Strategically located in Abu Dhabi’s famous tourist destination, Yas Island. The hotel is 10 minutes from Abu Dhabi International Airport, 20 minutes from the business district and 40 minutes from Dubai.
Derick and I booked this hotel through Booking.com for the following reasons. First, it is one of the hotel brands that we haven’t stayed yet. Second, Ferrari World and other Yas Island attractions are just few minutes away. Lastly, their hotel amenities and facilities looks very promising. They actually have a Certificate of Excellence in TripAdvisor. That was something we couldn’t wait to experience.
Checking In
Coming from Dubai International Airport, we travelled another 1 hour and 30 minutes to reach the hotel by car. Tired and badly needing some rest, we looked forward to getting settled in our room immediately. Thankfully, as soon as we entered the hotel premises, a lovely hotel attendant named Grace welcomed us. She right away called somebody to assist us with our luggage and endorsed us the receptionist to expedite our check-in process.
Lobby and Reception
Reception Area
Hotel Lobby
The hotel lobby is not that grand but it has high ceilings and has modern furnishings that give guests a relaxing atmosphere. Although at times it can get crowded especially if there are groups of guests checking in or out of the hotel.
Arabic tea and dates
Help yourself with the complimentary Arabic tea, dates and fruit-infused water that are readily available at the hotel lobby lounge area.
Premium King Room
We booked the Classic King Room however for whatever reason we were upgraded to a Premium King Room with a private balcony and a spectacular view of the Yas Island Marina Circuit. The room was very spacious. You can comfortably move around it. All the necessary in-room items were already provided. Derick and I felt like we were at home throughout our stay.
I love the working desk area. It has its own vanity corner having a large mirror where the hair dyer was properly placed. With this, I can do my makeup comfortably. There are many storage drawers available to keep things in place. Electrical outlets can be found all around the room thus charging our gadgets was never a problem.
Private Balcony
Yas Marina Circuit view
Spectacular sunrise view from our balcony
Room Amenities includes complimentary high-speed internet connection, daily housekeeping service with evening turndown, fully stocked mini-bar, personal in-room safe, 32-inch LCD TV, multilingual satellite TV channels plus music channels, bathrobes, hairdryer, IDD telephone, individual air temperature control, tea & coffee making facilities
Complimentary bottled water, coffee and tea supplies were replenished daily.
Mini-bar full with goodies if in case you need something to munch.
Bathroom Amenities
Bathroom amenities includes hot and cold shower, bathtub, bidet, bathroom scale, robes, different sets of towel and complete toiletries. Nothing was missing.
Every time we stay in a hotel, the bathroom is always my main concern. I’m very meticulous with regards to the towels and the kinds of toiletries provided. Yas Island Rotana did not let me down. The towels were all clean, fresh and properly placed. Did I mentioned that their toiletries are L’Occitane? Yes it is! Bath time was really enjoyable with these bathroom goodies.
Outdoor Swimming Pool
Aquarius Pool Bar
Another thing guests can enjoy are the swimming pools. Kids can splash in their own pool. Always on the watch is a lifeguard on duty. Although the weather in Abu Dhabi can get chilly during the winter months, swimming here can still be fun thanks to the temperature-controlled feature of the pools. There are enough sun loungers for those who would want to relax in a beautifully landscaped tropical setting. The Aquarius Pool Bar is open from 7:00 am until 10:00 pm – ready to serve your favorite snacks and drinks while enjoying a day at the pool.
Bodylines Fitness & Wellness Club
One of the highlights of our stay was the relaxing couple’s massage we experienced at Bodylines Fitness & Wellness Club. I had an Aromatherapy massage to relieve my back pains and to relax my tired muscles after exploring the city. My therapist Erica was very skilled in applying pressure that I fell asleep while currently being massaged. The same thing happened with my husband. We both enjoyed it so much. It was really what we needed, full relaxation that we can only enjoy during vacations.
Exquisitely designed massage treatment rooms
Fully equipped gym with professional instructors. Jacuzzi, sauna and steam rooms are also available.
Breakfast at Choices Restaurant
Choices is the hotel’s all day dining restaurant that offers International breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets.
The breakfast spread was satisfactory, however, it was not the best breakfast buffet I have experienced. They changed some hot dishes on a daily basis but it has more of the Indian dishes than International cuisine. Taste wise, it was mediocre. It can be improved though. The service was excellent. I love it when a manager approached us every morning, greeted us and wished us a beautiful day. Simple things like that can really go a long way.
Other Dining Options
Island Cafe – is a lobby lounge cafe that offers a wide selection of snacks and beverages, specialty coffees, fresh juices, selected teas and delicious desserts. Perfect venue for chats with friends over a cup of coffee or just simply watch the world go by.
Rangoli – is a fine dining restaurant that offers Modern Indian cuisine. Their food offerings will certainly bring you to a culinary journey that will satiate your palate with amazing flavors and aromas of India.
Read our experience at: RANGOLI Modern Indian Cuisine: A Must-Try Restaurant In Abu Dhabi, UAE
Blue Grill – is one of the top rated Steakhouse in Abu Dhabi. It serves hearty steaks of US and Australian Prime Angus Beef with choice cuts as well as fresh seafood dishes. Their wine cellar has great selections of wine to complement every meal on the menu.
Y Bar – Urban chic modern bar that has a perfect ambiance to unwind or catch latest sports happenings with your favorite drinks. It also offers delicious food and international selections of beers and cocktails.

Overall Experience
Booking Yas Island Rotana as our accommodation in Abu Dhabi was the best choice we have made. We experienced total relaxation all throughout our stay while having fun exploring the city. This hotel is one of the few who is willing to go extra mile just to make their guests happy. They truly set the bar high when it comes to customer service. Our stay was beyond amazing and memorable because we found the perfect hotel for our vacation. Looking forward to another stay at this hotel in the future.

The Yas Island Rotana looks like a great option to stay in Abu Dhabi. I love an evening turn-down service. which is provided. The number of restaurants and the choices provided seem exceptional. I appreciate that there is a children’s pool with a lifeguard on duty. This would definitely take away some of our stress as parents.

The rooms are so modern and spacious and the hotel even provides L’occitane toiletries. Great that there’s a fully equipped gym on site to keep up with the fitness. And what better way to end a day of sight seeing, then with a relaxing massage! Fantastic selection at breakfast – that would keep me going till diner time!

Few places do hospitality as well as UAE. My guess is that it has a lot to do with the ever smiling, polite, and quietly efficient FIlipino staff they employ, especially at the front desks. Seems like you had a great time.

The hotel’s proximity to all the major attractions is what I found more appealing than anything else. Being an Indian, I wont mind the minimal options in the breakfast 🙂 Your pictures speak a thousand words of the comfort you experienced there. With an Abu Dhabhi trip in pipeline, you have given me so much to look forward to. For a tourist, do you suggest staying in main city area for a couple of days too and the rest in Yas Rotana ?

Nice to know that I’ve somehow helped a fellow traveler with this article. Regarding your question, it all depends on how long you would stay in Abu Dhabi. Yas Island is little far from the city center. So you’re suggestion would be ideal if you’re planning to stay longer in Abu Dhabi and tour the main city. Otherwise, just stay in Yas Island Rotana. Anyway, Ferrari World, Yas Waterpark, Yas Mall, Yas Marina Circuit, Yas Beach, an 18-hole golf course, and a soon to be open Warner Bros. Studio are all nearby. Thanks for the comment… 🙂
